5 Holiday Home Decorating Tips

Holiday Home Decorating TipsIt’s the holiday season,…which means lots of food, family gatherings, and festive holiday decorations. There are so many different ways that you can decorate your home. If you’re looking for some new ideas this season, here are 5 holiday home decorating tips from Lynne Greene Interiors.

1. Don’t Limit Your Colors

Although green and red are the most obvious holiday colors, modern holiday home decorating can include just about any color nowadays. In fact, you don’t need to change your home’s color scheme at all for the holidays. Instead, find holiday decorations that compliment your existing colors while adding a festive touch. Many stores carry a variety of colors including gold, white, blue, purple, and more. Looking for some ideas? Browse through Pinterest for inspiration!

2. Add Some Bling

Sometimes just adding a little bling can be enough to make your home ready for the holidays. Gold and silver accents can go with almost anything, if done right. You can visit your local craft store for glitter, ribbons, and metallic paint. You can create new decorations or freshen up some old ones.

3. Don’t Go Overboard

There is such thing as overdoing decorations for the holidays. It’s important to take a balanced approach to your decorating plans. Make sure every room has a focal point and that the holiday décor highlights that rather than overpowering it. It may make sense to switch out some non-holiday décor rather than leaving everything in place.

4. Coordination is Key

Your Christmas tree is likely to be the focal point of at least one of your rooms. In addition to the tree trimmings, you can also coordinate your wrapping paper. You’re likely to have quite a few presents under that tree, so it’s important to make sure it fits with the rest of the room’s décor.

5. Have Fun!

Decorating can be a lot of work, but it should also be fun. Don’t let it be a cumbersome task that you dread. Take your time and involve your family. Turn your decorating routine into a fun family tradition that both you and the kids look forward to and build memories around each and every year.
